What I know now ( Advice to High Schoolers )

I didn’t know my major in undergrad didn’t have to be Pre-Physical Therapy.  My major could’ve been anything as long as I took the prerequisites for that specific program. How could this have changed things? Well, I could have had a higher cumulative GPA if I picked a different major. I could have taken prerequisite classes at community colleges every summer break. Taking classes at a community college saves money, and it is a better chance at a higher grade because their class sizes are typically smaller compared to classes at traditional Universities.

I didn’t know that I could have made my own schedule without an advisor my first two years. I sought out help planning my classes with an advisor which is the standard because that’s the job of the school advisors and they can provide basic information. However, the truth of the matter is that no one knows the type of load you can handle better than yourself. How could this have changed things? Well, I wouldn’t have enrolled in two - three science classes in one semester. I would’ve made sure my schedule was well balanced with one difficult class mixed in with easier classes so I can spend the majority of my time with the most difficult class.

I didn’t know that I would have to take additional classes after graduation. Although I graduated and met the requirements for my undergrad, I still had prerequisite classes I would need to take for specific programs. What do I mean by this?  programs  have a specific list of prerequisite classes they would like for you to complete before acceptance into their program. How could this have changed things? If you knew exactly what school you wanted to go to your sophomore year, you then have time to strategically plan ahead to have everything completed before you graduate
