Accepted, now what?

Yayyy you’ve been accepted! Here’s what you should do once you are accepted into PT school

1.Pay the Deposit fee & Submit medical records.

Deposit fees and medical records come first. The deposit fee is used to secure your spot in the program. Depending on the school, some schools will allow the deposit fee to go towards tuition.  The second most important thing is getting all your vaccines and immunizations up to date. You can not start school without either of these two steps. Please check with your school because they will send you all the details information.

2. Find housing

Suppose you are traveling out of state for school; it’s best to find a roommate and live ASAP. Check the student doctor forum to see if anyone else has been accepted into your program and from, there, start the hunt for a living. If you are commuting from home to go to school, Commuters, great decision!! It’ll save you a headache and a ton of money.

3. Utilize your resources

Reach out to people in the program already. Seek advice on the program and living arrangements—no need to go through all of that alone if there’s someone out there that could help.

Contact all the therapists you know to ask if they have any books or resources they no longer need that would be useful to you. ( I did this a received a lot of books)

4. Look for scholarships

I know you heard the saying, well, there’s not that much money out there for graduate students like there is for undergrad. Well, that’s only true if you allow it to be. There are many resources out there available.

5. Review

I would review Anatomy and physiology. Don’t overthink it; just review what you’ve already learned. Chances are, in PT school, the information will hit you all at once, so check the basics in your spare time.

6. Save your money !!!!!!

Many schools recommend that you don’t work while in PT school. It depends on the type of person you are; if you can manage your time well, go for it. On another note, if your program doesn’t start till the fall, use that time to save some money so you’ll be able to live for the next few months without struggling.
