Waitlisted

I reached out to the last couple of schools I applied to so I could be up to date on my application status. So far, I’ve heard back from one school (which by the way is my number one choice) and I was told that my application was put on the waitlist for an interview. Now, I’ve never heard of a school that does a waitlist for an interview. Typically you get waitlisted after the interview. I responded to the email the only way I knew how. 

“Thank you so much for the update. If you don't mind, can I know what number I am on the waitlist?

She responded, by saying I was ranked #10.

I then asked how likely is it that you all will pull from the waitlist. She responded by saying,

“I am not sure at this time if we will pull from the waitlist; however, I would recommend that you follow up next Thursday if you have not heard something.”

By the time next Thursday came around I sent a follow-up email…..

And on Monday she responded stating that my application has been pulled and I was invited for an interview.
