Negotiating your wages at a Rehab Tech
How to negotiate your wage as a rehab aide (step by step)
Read the policy/ procedure booklet. ( remember all that stuff you received when you were first hired, yes READ it) This is the most important step because the booklet will tell you how often you should get a raise. Some companies are annually and some could be every 6months, but you miss out when you don’t read. Trust me no one will remind you of your raise.
Schedule a meeting with your hiring manager
Prep for the meeting.
When I say prep for the meeting make sure prior to that meeting you have handled everything in the clinic. For example, being on time everyday, staying late to help out, maintaining the cleanliness of the clinic, and come to work with enthusiasm. These are very small things which you should be doing anyway but go above and beyond to create the best patient care service while making life easier for the therapist.
4. Know your worth.
Well this goes without saying prior to the meeting you should already have a number in your head that you believe you are worth. The manager will always have an idea the amount but if you come in prepared to negotiate that leaves room for increase pay. (This is also why step 3 is important, your hiring manager is most likely going to ask your fellow coworkers what they think of your performance in the past few months. If you can get them to vouch for you as well you will definitely get the raise you deserve
