Joffrey Ballet

The Joffrey Ballet, based in Chicago, Illinois, is a premier dance company. The Joffrey regularly performs both classical ballets, including Romeo & Juliet, The Nutcracker, and modern dance pieces.

How did I end up at the play ?

The Joffery Ballet is partnered with Athletico physical therapy. Having a partnership with Joffrey Ballet means that the therapist help with on-site consultation and injury evaluation, physical therapy, athletic training, massage therapy or educational sessions. One of the therapists, who’s a mentor to me, worked specifically with the dancers before and after the performance. Unlike being in the clinic, I was on site with the therapist observing her as she treated a handful of dancers. 

The experience was exceptional. I had never seen a physical therapist work in that way, especially not on site. I was so used to seeing a physical therapist only in a clinical setting that I had no idea that this was even an option. The show was amazing but I honestly I was just so grateful that the therapist allowed me to come and observe her. Which is why it's really important to network and connect with the therapist you encounter, you never know what opportunity they may have for you.
