First interview
Wow, today I’m ecstatic to say that I’ve been invited to my first interview for the 2017-2018 cycle. In total, I’ve applied to 13 schools and I’ve already been rejected by 6. After a few rejection letters, it’s nice to hear some good news. It’s a sigh of relief that I’m getting the opportunity to interview with one of the schools of my choice. If you make it to an interview you’re already halfway there ( in my opinion). I really believe that I have a good presence and interviews typically end up going well for me. I feel as though if I make it to an interview I can portray my dedication and passion better in person. In addition, I’ll be putting a face to an application. My least favorite part about applying to PT schools is that majority of schools focus more on your stats than your experience. All that to say that some schools don't even offer interviews so they are basing and judging a person's capability to succeed in their program via paper.
I’m not going to lie when I opened the email I was prepared for another rejection letter ( they all seem to start the same…. Dear Bria Jackson, Thank you for your interest in our program, but I regret to inform you that you have not been selected… blah blah blah after that I zone out). I’ve been through this cycle three times and I have already experienced 18 rejections thus far, I’m not new to this. All that to say, I’ve never let it get me down it's only fueled me to do better!
Now that I have an interview time to get to logistics, how am I going to get there? How much is the flight? How will I find my way around the campus? Should I get a hotel to spend the night in? Should I make this a one-day trip? Now, who’s willing to donate to my go fund me account so I can travel to my PT school interview?
One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced overall with applying to PT school is how costly it is. I’ve literally given my ALL every single cycle ending up BROKE all in the hopes that my hard work will pay off, which I believe it will it’s just a really hard experience all of this now with so much uncertainty. Anyway wish me luck on my interview and I’ll definitely keep you all up to date.
Hopefully, I’ll start to hear more good news!
