Familiar Face

Hey Girl! The common expression is used when you see someone you have either known for a while or when you’re genuinely happy to see that your new coworker is another black woman, who shares the same career goals as you. And instead of working you all are catching up like long-lost friends! (Lol )

Well, yesterday a new Rehab aide to our clinic, who had been there when it first open but was located at a different facility came back to help out. I genuinely became super excited when a  woman of color is chasing the same career as  I in hopes to become a physical therapist. The journey is long and full of obstacles, challenges, and doubts. But when you find someone who can relate to you and exchange stories it brings me comfort to know that I’m not the only one. It also motivates me to continue to push through no matter what.

Black girl magic is real and nothing makes me happier than to see other Black women succeed. 

One day we’re going to look back on this moment and appreciate all the hard work and effort we put into chasing our dreams.

Until then, we’ll continue to exchange life stories at work. ☺
