A strangers love

No school for them means work for me! And today’s trip is to the Field Museum. Like any other day, I sit in the front, check students in, gather lunches, and apply wristbands for the day.

I greeted all the parents with a “Good Morning” and answer any following questions about the field trip. On this particular day, for the first time ever a parent asked me how I was doing. I responded, with the basic, I’m doing well, but let’s be honest that statement never means exactly what it says. Anyway, he then asked me, “What is your dream?”- I carry around a notepad and on the cover of my pad, it says dream. I’ve had this notepad for about two years now. I hesitated because I was caught off guard and I said, “To get into physical therapy school.” That’s more a short-term goal, but it’s what I want more than anything right now. He said, “If you don’t mind, I would like to pray with you.” We bowed our heads and prayed. It was rewarding to know that a complete stranger wants nothing but to see me accomplish my goal; it was true love.
